Advanced Diploma in Business Administration(ADBA)
A. The purposes of the ADBA are to serve students, who:
a. Want an academic level business diploma for the purposes of application to business, and professional programs.
b. Are interested in laddering into a degree program.
B. Entry into the program is the same as for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree program:
a. Minimum certified English language competency equivalent to Grade 12 with a grade of C+ or 560 TOEFL or equivalent.
Notes:
1. Some students who do not have a 560 TOEFL or equivalent will be given "Provisional Acceptance" and will be
placed into an English Bridging program.
2. Students with a TOEFL score of less than 500 should take an ESL program and reapply when their TOEFL score
reaches 560.
b. High School diploma or mature student standing.
c. Math 11 or equivalent.
C. Program length is 20 courses:
a. A minimum of 10 courses must be taken at Sprott-Shaw Degree College (SSDC).
b. All transferred courses must be directly equivalent to the required SSDC ADBA courses.
D. Transfer policy for the academic diploma:
Where applicants request transfer credits for courses taken at Sprott-Shaw Degree College or other institutions, equivalency will be determined by one of the following:
a. Reference to a recognized articulation body such as BCCAT.
b. Reference to a previous institution-to-institution agreement.
Notes:
1. As of April 30, 2011, SSDC has signed articulation agreements with the following institutions:
a. Royal Roads University [ http://www.royalroads.ca/ ] for the completion of the "Bachelor of Commerce in
Entrepreneurial Management" degree program.
b. DeVry University [ http://www.devry.edu/degree-programs/colleges-degree-programs-overview.jsp ] for
the completion of the "Bachelor of Business Administration" degree program.
2. Students should speak with the BBA Advisor to get the details of these articulations.
c. A review of the course by way of course outline.
d. Challenge exam.
E. Required Courses:
The ADBA program consists of 20 courses as identified in Table1. These are the courses offered in the first two years of the Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) Degree program of SSDC. After satisfactory completion of these 20 courses with SSDC, students may choose to transfer to the partner Colleges and Universities or stay with SSDC to complete their bachelor's degree.
